Sammanthurai TREND was founded on 13th July 2023 with a noble mission: to serve the community through responsible digital media. What began as a small WhatsApp group quickly grew into a platform with a powerful vision — documenting the historically significant milestones of Sammanthurai, sharing timely and accurate information, and offering meaningful insights for future generations. In its early days, the initiative earned strong public appreciation by consistently providing historical records, updates on community developments, and crucial information during national crises. By delivering emergency alerts and public awareness messages with sincerity and authenticity, Sammanthurai TREND established itself as a trusted voice, recognized for its responsibility and commitment to the community.
Sammanthurai TREND grew from a single WhatsApp group into more than 25, becoming one of the town’s most connected digital networks. Expanding across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), and Threads, it gained wide recognition and trust from both the public and key institutions. Religious bodies such as the Jamiyathul Ulama Sabha, Trustee Board, and Majlish Ash-Shoora Sabha, along with government and public institutions including the Police Station, Divisional Secretariat, Pradeshiya Sabha, Base Hospital, schools, and mosques, acknowledged its responsible role in community communication. With strong participation and institutional support, Sammanthurai TREND established itself as a trusted and influential digital media platform
Under the leadership of Mr. Rikash M. Aliyar, Chairman of Sammanthurai TREND, the platform strengthened its professional standards and expanded its community service initiatives. Serving as News Editor, he has been actively involved in social service while also bringing academic and professional expertise, having completed a Higher National Diploma in Software Engineering at WUSL and a Diploma in Nursing (R) at NTS Ampara. The growth and success of Sammanthurai TREND were made possible through the invaluable support of Aathambawa Aliyar, Sulaimalebbe Aamina Umma, family members, relatives, well-wishers, Aliyaminas & Asiya Group of Health Care, and Geth Gallery friends. Together, this collective effort marked a major digital milestone, solidifying Sammanthurai TREND’s role as a responsible and influential community media platform.
